Heather Mehta, Principal
Experience and Expertise
Ms. Mehta provides strategic advisory services for both public and private sector clients in the energy industry. With 15 years of experience in the field, she possesses wide-ranging public policy expertise that encompasses legislative, regulatory, and market developments affecting the energy industry.
In recent years, Ms. Mehta has advised the California Energy Commission on the role of natural gas-fired power plants within the context of mandated cuts in greenhouse gas emissions and has assessed for the Energy Commission a host of federal and state policies with potential implications for the operations of California's nuclear power plants. For various clients she has analyzed the costs and benefits of electricity market developments and clean energy opportunities, and she has developed roadmaps for siting clean energy projects. Ms. Mehta currently is advising municipal clients on energy efficiency and conservation options to take advantage of federal block grant funding. She regularly monitors California and Western U.S. regulatory developments for clients.
Ms. Mehta also has expertise in international energy markets, particularly in developing country markets. She has conducted assessments of energy and environmental markets in a number of Central and South American countries and has contributed to financial analyses for proposed energy projects in China.
